Present large scale image search is based on linking keywords with images. Results often yield images that are semantically different from the desired images. The project involves devising techniques to judge relevance of contextual information within the page along with providing a channel for studying image processing. The first phase involved literature survey on web segmentation and writing code at a small scale based on algorithms like VIPS. Subsequently, the second phase concentrated on using low level feature extraction to cluster images based on the method of Colour Texture Moments.
Topic - Query retrieval framework for administrator-centric KMS. (Aug.'10 - Dec.'10)

Studied the various aspects of a knowledge management system from literature and worked on implementing an administrator-centric knowledge management system based on a hierarchical framework of knowledge workers. The system was a learning automation which used the available client feedback in response to the query answered from the knowledge base. The knowledge repository interacted with data using a framework created based on inverted indexing.
Topic - Traffic Engineering in IEEE 802.16 WiMAX networks. (May.'10 - Aug.'10)

Studied the various aspects of routing and call admission control in IEEE 802.16 WiMAX networks and proposed a traffic engineering solution to the problem of bandwidth guaranteed paths in WiMAX mesh networks as a part of my summer internship. The performance of the scheme was assessed using NCTUns and the results were competitive on many QoS parameters such as throughput, rejection ratio and network utilization.
